Winter Collection
(2019- 2020)

I initiated this project in 2019 to criticize the societal discomfort around female body hair. Eventually I expanded on the project, creating a collection of garments that confront the disgust around the natural feminine body overall. I exaggerated some of the pieces to challenge viewers in their levels of comfort, forcing them to reflect and ask themselves why something like an unwrapped tampon makes them feel uneasy–why they can only accept a discussion about menstruation in small increments or in passing comments. I formatted the project as a high-fashion runway show, encouraging viewers to envision a world where floor length armpit hair and a full bush is embraced to the point of trendiness–a world in which even the fashion industry, in all of its standard-setting ways, wants to celebrate something natural. Throughout this performance I confronted my own stigmas against the subject matter. Yet my personal discomfort and any repelled looks I received only reinforced the project's relevance even more.
